A 35-year-old Chatham, Ont., woman has been charged with assault after she allegedly spat at an employee through a Tim Hortons drive-through window. On Nov. 29 at 3:55 p.m., Chatham-Kent police responded to an assault complaint at a restaurant on St. Clair Street in Chatham. A complainant reported that a female customer became verbally aggressive about her order, left the store, and then spat at her through the drive-through window. Police say witness statements also confirmed the customer’s abusive behaviour. Through the use of surveillance footage, the accused was identified as a 35-year-old woman from Chatham. Officers charged her with assault and issued a warrant for her arrest. On Dec. 5, at 4 p.m., the accused attended Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters and turned herself in regarding an assault investigation stemming from a Nov. 29 incident at Tim Hortons on St. Clair Street. She was later released with conditions and a future court date.
