A 67-year-old man from Chatham has died after a diving incident in the Erieau Marina area. Chatham-Kent police say officers were called to the marina around 11:30 a.m. on March 18 after reports that a diver had not resurfaced while operating in the boat channel. A coordinated search was launched involving Chatham-Kent police, the Chatham-Kent Fire Department and the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit. Emergency crews secured the area and began searching the waterway, with specialized equipment required due to conditions in the channel. Police say further search efforts were carried out Thursday morning, and around 8 a.m., they recovered the man from the water. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
