A single-vehicle collision on highway 11 Saturday in Marten River claimed the life of the driver Ontario Provincial Police said in a release Aug. 30. “At approximately 10:45 p.m., members of the Temiskaming OPP, along with emergency personnel and members of the Marten River Fire Department, responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 11 near Richfield Road in Marten River,” police said in a release Sunday. “Emergency responders attended the scene and confirmed that the sole occupant of the vehicle was deceased.” They said the identity of the deceased is not being released at this time, pending notification of next of kin and further investigation. Highway 11 was closed for several hours while the collision scene was processed. Police ask anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has information that could assist with the investigation is asked to contact the Temiskaming OPP.
