Two men have been charged and arrested in connection with a Windsor Police Service extortion and theft investigation. On March 12, police were called about a $24,000 fraud at a cellphone business. The WPS said in January of this year, a man went to the business in the 7600 block of Tecumseh Road East and pressed a ‘sharp object’ against an employee’s back, threatening to hurt them and their family if they didn’t comply with demands. The suspect reportedly also gave personal information, making the employee fear for his safety. Officers said eight different incidents happened between January and March, where the suspect and another man went to the store and coerced the employee to give cellphones to them. 12 new iPhones were taken through threats and intimidation, WPS confirmed. Suspects were identified as two 36-year-old men. On March 15, one was arrested in east Windsor and charged with two counts of fraud under $5,000. The second suspect was arrested on Saturday, also in east Windsor. He is facing one count of extortion and six counts of theft under $5,000.
