1,000 vehicles stopped in Chatham-Kent during National Impaired Driving Prevention Week

Around 1,000 vehicles were stopped at RIDE programs during National Impaired Driving Prevention Week in Chatham-Kent.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were holding education and proactive initiatives, with the goal of keeping the roads safe and reducing impaired drivers.

13 RIDE programs were held over the week, resulting in the following actions:

• One driver arrested and charged with impaired driving-related offences
• One roadside issued during RIDE check
• Two seven-day driver’s license suspensions issued
• Nine provincial offence notices issued

The CKPS reminds that impaired driving is the leading cause of death or serious injuries on the roads. Anyone who sees a suspected impaired driver is urged to call 911.
