A pair of kayaks that disappeared from a downtown Nanaimo parkade are now the subject of a police investigation. Nanaimo RCMP say the boats were inside a vehicle parked at a building on Cavan Street when they were taken. Investigators believe the theft occurred sometime after 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 19 and before the morning of Aug. 20. The two boats are described as a short kayak with orange and brown colouring, and a second kayak that is blue and white. Police estimate the combined value of the kayaks at roughly $1,000. RCMP are now asking anyone who may have seen something suspicious around the parkade during that timeframe, or who has information about where the kayaks ended up, to come forward.
