Video shows indecent exposure suspect running away from victim on Sunshine Coast, police say

The Sunshine Coast RCMP released video of a man alleged to have exposed himself to a woman on a trail.

A woman who alleged a stranger exposed himself to her while she was walking on a trail on the Sunshine Coast recorded the man as he was running away, according to authorities, who have released the video to try to identify the suspect.

Officers were called to the trail near the corner of Shaw and O’Shea roads in Gibsons Monday around 4 p.m., the Sunshine Coast RCMP said in a statement.

“A male wearing all black clothing and a black scarf covering his face exposed himself to a woman,” police said, summarizing the incident.

“The woman began filming him with her cell phone as he turned and ran down the trail away from her.”

Monday’s report came three days after a teenage girl called police about a man who was following her on the Inglis Trail in Gibsons. In that case, the 14-year-old ran away, and called the police when she got home, according to the Sunshine Coast RCMP.

“Police are investigating these two incidents and believe they are related to the same suspect,” the statement from local Mounties said.
