Emergency crews are searching the waters of Cultus Lake for a 13-year-old girl who may have drowned after falling off a paddleboard, police said. Mounties say the girl was reported missing and believed to be in the lake at around 1:21 p.m. on Saturday. “The 13-year-old youth was reportedly floating on a paddleboard when she is believed to have suffered a medical emergency,” Upper Fraser Valley Regional RCMP said, in a statement. The girl is believed to have gone into the water after falling off the board and wasn’t wearing a life jacket, police said. RCMP said crews from Chilliwack Fire, B.C. Emergency Health Services and Chilliwack Search and Rescue are on scene and assisting. People have been asked to avoid Cultus Lake’s Entrance Bay area while crews continue their search.
