A 24-year-old Brampton man is facing multiple charges after a theft and fraud investigation in Shelburne. Dufferin police say the investigation began Tuesday when a delivery driver allegedly took personal property from a resident’s home while delivering parcels. Officers allege the stolen items were later used to make multiple unauthorized purchases at gas stations, hardware and retail stores. A day later, around 4:40 p.m., police received information that people believed to be connected to the investigation were in the Main Street area. Officers tracked down two men in a white cargo delivery van and pulled the vehicle over. Both were arrested at the scene. One man has been charged with theft under $5,000, four counts of fraud under $5,000, four counts of unauthorized use of a credit card and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. He also faces charges for failing to surrender a driver’s licence, improper tires and driving with cannabis readily available. He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date. The second man was released without charges.
