Weeks after a teenager was allegedly bear-sprayed in a stranger attack, Surrey police are asking the public for help identifying the suspects involved. The victim was sitting on a bench outside the Menchies Frozen Yogurt store at the Morgan Crossing Shopping Centre on May 31 around 4 p.m., when the Surrey Police Service say he was approached by two unknown teenagers—one of whom bear-sprayed him while the other recorded the attack on his cell phone. SPS provided descriptions of the victim and two suspects in a release issued Thursday, in hopes witnesses will come forward and help further the investigation. The victim is described as a Middle Eastern teenage boy with short black curly hair, standing five feet six inches tall. At the time of the alleged assault, police say he was wearing a black hoodie, light blue jeans and black clog-style shoes. The suspect accused of recording the assault is also a Middle Eastern teenage boy with the same hair style and height as the victim, according to police, and his right hand was wrapped in medical tape. Police described the bear-spraying suspect as a white teenager with shaggy brown hair, standing five feet four inches tall. Photos of the suspects show both wearing cross-body bags—with the bear-sprayer dressed in a light hoodie, red shirt, black shorts and shoes. The other suspect was dressed in all black clothing with white designs, as well as white shoes.
