People driving on several high-elevation B.C. highways Sunday are being told to prepare for the possibility of snow. Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a special weather statement for the Okanagan Connector, the Coquihalla and Highway 3 through the Kootenay Pass. “A cold front moving through the interior of British Columbia will drop the temperatures tonight,” the weather agency said. “Rapid cooling over the Interior combined with moisture from an upper low moving through Washington is likely to give snow over the high elevation highway passes. Snow may rapidly accumulate on roads and visibilities may be greatly reduced leading to difficult travel conditions.” Accumulations are estimated at between two and 10 centimetres, according to ECCC. A snowfall warning is in effect for Highway 3 between Hope and Princeton, where between 10 and 15 centimetres of snow is in the forecast. Snow tires are mandatory on all of these highways between Oct. 1 and April 30.
