‘Significant quantities’ of drugs, cash seized during B.C. anti-gang investigation, police say

B.C.’s anti-gang police task force says it seized “significant quantities” of illicit drugs, firearms and cash while executing search warrants at four locations in Coquitlam and Delta earlier this month.

The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of B.C. said in a statement Tuesday that it arrested “multiple individuals” during the June 2 searches, but they have since been released “pending further investigation.”

“Investigators are continuing to advance the file and charges are anticipated,” the statement reads.

According to the CFSEU-BC, the investigation began in October 2025 and is focused on an organized crime group police believe to be operating a drug trafficking network in Burnaby, Vancouver, Coquitlam, Richmond, New Westminster and Surrey.

Across the four searches, the unit said, investigators seized approximately two kilograms of fentanyl, two kilograms of crack cocaine, half a kilogram of crystal methamphetamine, and more than 22 kilograms of vacuum-sealed cannabis.

Police also seized two Glock handguns, roughly 20 kilograms of caffeine—which they said is “commonly used as a cutting or buffing agent”—more than 200 grams of psilocybin, multiple cellphones and approximately $21,000 in cash.

“This investigation targeted a longstanding drug trafficking enterprise operated by an organized crime group that is alleged to have generated significant illicit profits over many years,” said Staff Sgt. Ryan Johnston, acting operations officer for the CFSEU-BC, in the statement.

“The seizure of these drugs, firearms, and proceeds of crime demonstrates the commitment of CFSEU-BC and its policing partners to disrupting organized crime networks and enhancing public safety throughout British Columbia.”

The unit thanked the Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team, Coquitlam RCMP, Chilliwack RCMP, Delta Bylaw Services and Integrated Forensic Identification Services for their assistance with executing the search warrants.
