A senior has been hospitalized with serious burns and a woman is missing following a house fire that erupted in Mission, B.C., Monday morning. Emergency crews responded to the fire shortly after 8 a.m. at a property on Townshipline Avenue, between Clay Street and Keystone Avenue. In a news release, Mission RCMP said a 69-year-old man was found injured at the scene and airlifted to hospital—but a 46-year-old woman who was “believed to have been inside the house” when the fire started has not been found. “Mission RCMP extends their condolences to everyone involved,” the detachment added. Authorities are still working to determine the cause of the fire, but said it does not appear to be suspicious. Area residents have been warned Townshipline Avenue could remain closed throughout the day to make room for emergency responders.
