Road closures coming to Cambie Street corridor

Road closures are coming to a stretch of Cambie Street starting Monday, prompting a warning to spring-break travellers.

City crews will be dismantling a large construction crane at the site of the Oakridge Park development and the street will be completely closed to drivers between West 41st and West 45th avenues from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Starting Thursday, the road will reopen to one lane of traffic in each direction along the same stretch during the same hours.

“The City of Vancouver has issued a permit for this work on city property, which requires the contractors to perform the work in accordance with all regulatory safety requirements,” a notice from municipal officials said.

“If you have upcoming spring break travel or are travelling to the airport or ferry terminal during these closure periods, please plan an alternate route and allow extra travel time.”

Some sidewalks will be closed while work is underway, and some bus routes may be impacted. Cyclists are advised to use an alternate route.

Police will be on site directing traffic through Saturday, March 21.
