Driver of white Ford Bronco comes forward after hit-and-run in Mission, B.C., RCMP say

Mounties in Mission, B.C., say the driver they were seeking in a hit-and-run investigation has come forward, just hours after police released photos of the suspect vehicle.

Police asked the public for help as they searched for the driver of a white Ford Bronco that struck a cyclist in a gas station parking lot earlier this month.

The Bronco left the scene without stopping, and the cyclist was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Mission RCMP said in a news release Friday.

The incident occurred shortly before 2 a.m. on Jan. 19 at the Petro Canada station at 7th Avenue and Cedar Street, according to police.

Investigators have reviewed surveillance video that shows the Bronto travelling east on 7th Avenue before turning left into the gas station parking lot, cutting through it, and exiting onto Cedar Street, headed north, police said.

As the vehicle left the parking lot, its “front passenger door area” struck the cyclist, knocking her off her bike, Mounties said.

They released photos of the vehicle and asked the driver to come forward.

Just a few hours after their initial statement, police sent a follow-up news release.

“The driver of that Bronco has contacted police and is co-operating with the investigation,” the update reads. “Mission RCMP appreciates the public’s assistance, and is not looking for any outstanding vehicles or drivers relating to this incident.”
