Police investigating after man injured in shooting in Surrey, B.C.

Police are investigating after a man was shot and injured Friday morning in Surrey, B.C.

The victim’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening and there is no ongoing risk to the public, the Surrey Police Service said in a news release.

Officers were called to the report of shorts fired near Bear Creek Park at approximately 6 a.m.

Attending officers searched the park and some residences near the 13700 block of 88 Avenue but did not locate a victim or a shooter.

Hospital staff contacted the police department at 6:30 a.m. to advise that a man had arrived in the emergency ward with a gunshot wound, according to the release.

“Investigators will be interviewing the apparent victim and front-line officers will continue gathering evidence and identifying the specific location where this shooting may have taken place,” police said.

“This incident is not connected to extortion and there is no ongoing risk to the public.”
