Police identify man fatally shot at Maple Ridge, B.C., gas station

Austin Baillie has been identified as the victim of a fatal shooting that took place in Maple Ridge, Aug. 13.

A man who was shot and killed at a gas station in Maple Ridge, B.C., last month has been identified by police.

Austin Baillie, a 24-year-old from Maple Ridge, was shot dead Aug. 13 in what police believe to be a targeted incident, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said in a statement Friday.

Mounties responded to reports of a shooting near 246 Street and 124 Avenue shortly after midnight, locating Baillie inside a vehicle at a Petro-Canada station in the 2400 block of Dewdney Trunk Road.

Baillie, unresponsive and with gunshot wounds, was treated by paramedics but succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators are continuing their call for witnesses and further information, and have released an image of a white Nissan Rogue they believe to be connected to the incident.

“Our team is pursuing all investigative avenues while following the evidence to understand the circumstances of the shooting and homicide of Mr. Baillie,” said Cpl. Sukhi Dhesi of IHIT in the statement.

“Investigators are looking to speak with those who knew Mr. Baillie and may have information related to this homicide.”
