Mounties in North Vancouver are reminding drivers to slow down, after catching 12 people speeding in just one hour. Officers were out during the morning rush on Feb. 27 near Arborlynn Park, after they received complaints from people in the neighbourhood. In a post on social media Wednesday, RCMP say one driver told the officer they were speeding “because they were rushing to walk their dog.” Referencing the “sonic boom” that rattled the region Tuesday night, police posted that “unlike that meteor, there is no need to be travelling at lightning speed through our neighbourhoods.” The fastest driver they caught was going 62 km/hour, which is more than double the speed limit. “We are asking residents to slow down and protect our kids in playgrounds” Cpl. Mansoor Sahak told CTV News. “Officers can be anywhere doing enforcement.” The fine for speeding in a playground zone is between $196 and $253.
