A late-summer storm brought a tornado to a southwestern Manitoba community. According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), a tornado hit Elkhorn on Sunday evening. The weather agency added that a team is heading out to the area on Monday to assess the damage. ECCC is also reporting that Sunday’s thunderstorm brought heavy rainfall to several Manitoba communities. This includes Kola with 73.8 millimetres and San Clara with 65.8 millimetres. St. Lazare and Duck Mountain also saw lots of rain on Sunday, with the communities receiving 41.2 millimetres and 37.8 millimetres, respectively. CTV News previously reported that the storm was caused by a cold front combined with an unseasonably warm atmosphere.
