The 43-year-old hiker reported missing last weekend was found alive on Friday, according to a social media post from his sister. Squamish Search and Rescue told CTV News that Stanislav Volo came walking out of the woods onto Indian Arm Forest Service Road on his own. To this point, staff say they’re unsure of how he found himself there. A photo taken just after he was found showed an overjoyed Volo walking between the arms with two rescue staff, who appeared just as ecstatic. Volo was first reported missing on Aug. 30, one day after he was last seen at the summit of the Sea to Sky Gondola. He left behind a detailed plan to hike the Mount Habrich Loop but didn’t return home. Days of co-ordinated search turned up little sign of Volo, but a breakthrough came on Thursday morning, when his sister announced that emergency crews had received a 911 call from his cellphone. Squamish SAR said the 911 call played a major role in narrowing their search. “He is out there. We need to find him,” Ola Volo said on Wednesday. In her post about her brother being found, she said these have been the longest six days of her life, but she held onto hope every second. Sea to Sky RCMP say Stanislav Volo was found with minor injuries and has since been transported to hospital for treatment. Police say they will provide no further information at this time to respect Volo’s privacy, but thanked all parties involved for their help in the search.
