For decades, Mike McCardell was a familiar face on television, including CTV News Vancouver, where he was known for finding heartwarming stories in the most unexpected places. Now for a limited time, he’s back doing exactly that, but this time at the Pacific National Exhibition. “I thought you retired,” one passerby said, as McCardell was stopped for one of many impromptu hellos. “I did. I just came back for a short bit,” he replied. McCardell is back on the beat temporarily, walking the PNE fairgrounds, searching for the next story. His method is unchanged. “Every day, look for something,” he said with a smile. “And what are we looking for? I don’t know, but we’ll know when we see it.” Fans can see all of his stories, as they are being posted on the PNE’s Facebook.
