Man arrested, charged after alleged face-slashing at Vancouver nightclub

A man has been arrested and charged after allegedly slashing someone in the face at a Yaletown nightclub.

A man was arrested in the early hours of Monday morning after he allegedly slashed another man’s face with a knife at a nightclub in Yaletown, Vancouver police say.

The VPD says officers responded to reports of an assault inside Pierre’s Champagne Lounge near Nelson and Hamilton streets around 3 a.m.

Witnesses intervened and gave the victim first aid before police arrived, the department said, adding the man was taking to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police believe the attack was not random.

A suspect was arrested outside, and 31-year-old Delta resident Paramveer Singh Jhooti now faces a charge of aggravated assault. Online court records indicate Jhooti is next due to appear in court Monday afternoon, and then on Jan. 26.
