Man hospitalized after stranger assault in New Westminster, B.C.

Police are seeking witnesses and CCTV video after a man was assaulted and robbed in New Westminster, B.C., over the weekend.

Officers were called to Boyd Street in the Queensborough neighbourhood around 9:30 p.m. Sunday amid reports a man had been attacked by two people, the New Westminster Police Department said in a release Tuesday.

Officers arrived to find the victim near the ICBC parking lot bleeding from a head injury, and he was sent to hospital.

“The victim shared that he was struck, punched, and kicked before the suspects stole his personal items,” said police in the release.

The suspects, not known to the victim, were unable to be located by officers or their assisting police dogs and police are calling on the public for any information that may be helpful to the investigation.

“Investigators are conducting an extensive canvass of the area for CCTV footage and speaking with witnesses,” said NWPD’s Hailey Finnigan.

“We’re asking anyone who may have seen this incident or who has surveillance or dash cam footage from the area to please contact police.”
