Loved ones say goodbye to young girl killed in Yaletown condo fall

Family and friends gathered in Squamish Wednesday to say goodbye to a child who made a deep and lasting impact on their lives.

Dozens of family, friends and loved ones gathered in Squamish on Wednesday for the funeral and burial of Gandom Taheri.

The eight-year-old was remembered as a beautiful, loving and kind little soul who brought joy to everyone around her.

At Mount Garibaldi Cemetery, attendees laid flowers, said prayers and consoled the girl’s parents as they wept.

On Nov. 11, Taheri was visiting her father’s 23^rd-floor condo in Vancouver’s Yaletown neighbourhood when she died in a fall from the balcony.

How the child fell remains a mystery as Vancouver police continue to investigate. Authorities did not provide an update Wednesday.

While loved ones wait for answers, a GoFundMe page has been set up for her mother, Mahsa Hedayatzadeh, to help cover the funeral costs and other expenses.

“The fundraising is going to make a huge difference for them,” said Geoff Stollery, the CEO of the company Hedayatzadeh works for.

“Not just now but they’re welcoming a new child in less then two months.”

As of Wednesday evening more than $43,000 had been collected through the fundraiser.
