Investigation into shots fired, burning vehicles at Maple Ridge home ‘not ruling anything out’: RCMP

Shots were fired into a home in Maple Ridge over the weekend where two burning vehicles were found in the driveway, according to authorities.

Officers were called to the residence in the 12700 block of 227B Street around 4 a.m. Saturday, the Ridge Meadows RCMP said in a statement Monday.

“The occupants of the residence were promptly evacuated, and Maple Ridge Fire and Rescue attended to extinguish the fire. No injuries were sustained by any of the occupants of the home,” the statement from the detachment said, adding the investigation is being conducted by the Serious Crime Unit.

“All avenues of investigation are being explored, and officers are not ruling anything out at this time.”

No suspects or suspect vehicles have been identified, but Mounties said they are reviewing video surveillance from the area and canvassing for witnesses. Police did not explicitly address whether they were investigating the incident as potentially extortion related.
