Fire that threatened home in West Kelowna contained by crews

Firefighters in West Kelwona prevented a blaze from spreading to a home on Jan. 18, 2026.

A fire that threatened a home in West Kelowna was contained by crews before it could damage the residence, according to officials.

Crews were called to the Smith Creek neighbourhood around 2 a.m. for reports of an explosion and fire, West Kelowna Fire Rescue Chief Jason Brolund said in a statement.

“First arriving crews found a pick-up truck and trailer on fire, with fire impinging on a single-family residence. Firefighters worked hard to keep the fire out of the house,” he wrote.

Four engines and 20 crew members were able to bring the blaze under control, and no one was injured.
