“Dense fog” is expected to blanket B.C.’s South Coast starting Wednesday evening, prompting an advisory from Environment and Climate Change Canada. The advisory covers the entire region, including Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley and Greater Victoria, while highway-weather advisories are in effect for the Sea to Sky and Malahat highways. “A ridge of high pressure over the South Coast is trapping cool and humid marine air near the surface. As a result, dense fog has formed in some places already and will likely to become more widespread over the South Coast,” the advisory said. “Dry, outflow winds are forecast to clear the fog in many areas on Thursday.” Drivers are being urged to prepare for foggy conditions and to respond accordingly by adjusting their lights, speed and following distance. “Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced at times. Widespread near-zero visibility is possible,” the advisory said.
