Crews extinguish fire at North Vancouver industrial site

No injuries were reported after firefighters responded Wednesday morning to a blaze burning at an industrial site in North Vancouver.

Assistant fire chief Dennis Cappellini with District of North Vancouver Fire Rescue Services says the fire was discovered at the Pembina bulk marine terminal within the Port of Vancouver.

The fire was burning inside a storage shed, sending black smoke into the air which was visible across the region.

“It did have some acetylene tanks in there, which was a concern for explosion at the beginning, but our crews quickly got water on it and mitigated the fire,” Cappellini said.

The flames were extinguished and fire crews were withdrawn from the scene by 10 a.m.
