B.C. anti-gang unit appeals for help locating alleged drug traffickers

Authorities in B.C. are asking the public to help them locate two men charged with drug trafficking offences.

Warrants have been issued for the arrest of Phi Hoang Nguyen, 32, and Jayson Vu, 29, according to the RCMP’s anti-gang squad, the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit.

The drug trafficking probe that led to the charges against Nguyen and Vu began in 2023, when police started investigating the activities of an “organized crime group operating in the Lower Mainland,” a statement from the CFSEU said.

Three properties in the region were searched and police seized meth, cocaine, fentanyl, MDMA and ketamine. One gun was also confiscated, as were four vehicles, $100,000 in Canadian cash and two “high-end watches,” police said.

“We remain committed to holding drug traffickers accountable – particularly those who deal in potentially deadly substances like fentanyl and other illicit drugs,” CFSEU spokesperson Cpl. Sarbjit K. Sangha said in a statement.

Charges were approved by the Public Prosecution Service of Canada on Tuesday.

Nguyen has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, one count of possession of a loaded or restricted firearm, and one count of tampering with the serial number of a firearm.

Vu has been charged with two counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Nguyen and Vu is urged to contact their local police or make an anonymous report with Crime Stoppers.
