Allegedly impaired driver flips car while ‘looking at a passing train’: B.C. RCMP

An allegedly impaired driver had his vehicle impounded earlier this month after it rolled over on the highway, according to Mounties in Mission, B.C.

In a statement, the Mission RCMP said a driver called police around 11 p.m. on Jan. 16 to report a black Smart car on its side in a westbound lane of Lougheed Highway near Hayward Street.

Police say they found the driver standing outside, “apparently uninjured.” He reportedly told an officer he was “looking at a passing train” when his car struck the centre median and flipped over.

“While the man was telling his story, the officer noted he had slurred speech and his breath smelled of liquor,” the statement reads.

After allegedly failing two sobriety tests the man was handed a 90-day driving prohibition and had his vehicle impounded for 30 days.

Police asked anyone who witnessed the crash to call the Mission detachment and reference file number 26-697.
