Accused in Surrey woman’s killing to face trial in 2026

A trial date has been set for the man accused of killing Tori Dunn in her Surrey home last year.

Trial dates have been set for a man accused of killing a woman in her Surrey home last year.

Adam Mann, who was 41 at the time of his arrest, is scheduled to be tried by jury on a charge of second-degree murder beginning Oct. 5, 2026.

Police say 30-year-old Tori Dunn was found with life-threatening injuries inside a home on 182A Street in Surrey’s Port Kells neighbourhood around 10 p.m. on June 16, 2024. She was taken to hospital, where she died.

Mann was arrested near the scene that night and charged on June 28, 2024.

Dunn’s father, Aron, told CTV News he is frustrated with the time its taken to get to trial.

“(I’m) very frustrated in the time that it takes for justice,” he said.

“I’m not sure if it’s a lack of judges or lack of prosecutors, but that’s what it seems to be. It’s certainly unfair to the family and other families that have to go through this.”

The Supreme Court of Canada has established expectations for how long criminal trials at various levels of court should take. Trials in B.C. Supreme Court are expected to be completed within 30 months of charges being laid. If Mann’s trial remains on schedule, it will wrap up about a month before that deadline.
