A nine-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy remain in hospital with serious injuries after a collision in Burnaby Saturday afternoon, according to authorities, who are appealing for witnesses and information. Officers were called to Hastings Street near Delta Avenue around 12:45 p.m. for reports of a collision “involving two young pedestrians” and the driver of a grey Mercedes, the Burnaby RCMP said in a statement. The statement from Mounties did not give any information about the suspected cause of the crash but did say the driver remained on scene. “We are doing everything we can to support the families and loved ones of these children, but we need the public’s assistance here,” Burnaby RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Mike Kalanj said, in the statement. “With these children and their loved ones in mind, please contact our investigators with any information or dashcam footage.” On Saturday, B.C. Emergency Health Services said paramedics were called to the scene for “a motor vehicle incident involving an e-scooter,” and video from the scene shows a scooter in the road. Investigators are asking for dash-camera video from drivers who were on Hastings Street, east of Springer Avenue, between 12:30 and 12:45 p.m. Police said they are also seeking any video from around the time of the crash captured on “feeder roads” or elsewhere along Hastings Street.
