Around 100 Blue Jays fans have donated to the Seattle Children’s Hospital after the ALCS

Toronto Blue Jays fans are seemingly showing good sportsmanship conduct by donating to a children’s hospital in Seattle, in recognition of the nail-biting American League Championship Series (ALCS) against the Seattle Mariners.

In a post shared on the Toronto Blue Jays Reddit board, which has been upvoted at least 1,400 times, one fan shared how they would donate to Seattle Children’s Hospital if the Toronto team clinched the American Championship League Series.

“GOOD SERIES SEATTLE MARINERS. FROM A TORONTO BLUE JAYS FAN. SHOULD’VE USED MUNOZ INSTEAD OF [BAZARDO],” the donation comment reads.

A handful of others shared apparent copies of their donation receipts to the Seattle hospital, sharing how the money is coming from Blue Jays fans as a way of thanking the city for a hard-fought seven-game series against the Mariners.

Seattle Children’s Hospital confirmed to CTV News Toronto that they received roughly 100 donations from Blue Jays fans since the conclusion of the ALCS.

“Every donation to (Seattle) Children’s fuels our mission and is truly appreciated,” Sabrina Register of Seattle Children’s Hospital said in a statement.

“Children’s is grateful to Blue Jays fans for their generosity. Moments like this highlight that we can all cheer for kids.”

Mariners fans also took notice of the “nice gesture” online, prompting a couple of donations to Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children.

“We have received two donations that have baseball-related comments attached to them,” Tania Kwong of the SickKids Foundation confirmed to CTV News Toronto.

The Jays came from behind to clinch the Game 7 win against the Mariners at Rogers Centre on Monday night, and are heading to their first World Series since the early ‘90s as the underdog.

Toronto takes the mound at Rogers Centre on Friday night for Game 1 against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
