The eastbound lanes of Highway 401 remain closed in Pickering following a single-vehicle crash on Thursday afternoon that left a child critically injured. Police say the crash happened near Brock Road around 2:20 p.m. Ornge confirmed to CTV News Toronto that they are airlifting a pediatric patient with critical injuries from the scene to the Hospital for Sick Children. The highway was initially closed in both directions. At 3:15 p.m., the westbound express and collector lanes reopened. There is no word when the eastbound lanes will reopen. The cause of the crash is not immediately known.
