No GO Train service from Oakville GO to Union Station due to critical track work: Metrolinx

There’s no Go Train service between Oakville Go and Union Station. Service will resume on Tuesday.

GO Train service will be impacted on Monday from Oakville to Union Station due to critical rehabilitation work.

Metrolinx, the provincial transportation agency, had initially scheduled a number of weekend closures along the Lakeshore West Line to fully replace the Etobicoke Creek bridge.

Those closures were, however, pushed back to accommodate the Jays’ playoffs. Now that the team has completed its World Series run, this work, which requires full track access and cannot occur during active rail service, has begun.

“(It) is critical to maintaining safe and reliable service on the Lakeshore West Line,” Metrolinx said.

The work, which began on Sunday, means there will be no GO train service between Oakville GO and Union Station on Monday.

Lakeshore West trains, meanwhile, will be running on a 30-minute schedule between Niagara Falls and Oakville GO on Monday.

Commuters should note that there will be no GO Transit services at Port Credit, Long Branch, or west from Mimico GO.

GO buses will run between Oakville and Clarkson GO to Erindale or Bramalea GO. There, customers can connect to eastbound train service on the Milton and Kitchener lines to Union Station.

To help customers get to Union Station, two eastbound and westbound trips have been added on the Milton line. As a result, two inbound a.m. trains and one p.m. outbound train will depart five minutes earlier. Special trains will run between Mimico GO and Union Station on a 30-minute schedule.

On Tuesday, Metrolinx will be adding two early morning inbound trains starting at Appleby and Aldershot GO stations. Regular service is expected to resume at 5:52 a.m.

“We appreciate that this will inconvenience our customers and we sincerely thank them for their patience and understanding,” said Metrolinx, which is advising riders to check schedules online before heading out as trip times could depart earlier or later than usual.

During the work, GO bus connection times may also be adjusted and customers should expect longer than usual wait times, the agency noted.
