As Torontonians prepare for a busy weekend across the city, including the opening of the CNE, the return of popular Korean boy Band BTS, and other events, the city has announced the closures of several streets and lanes this weekend, including closures on the Gardiner Expressway. Overnight closures along the Gardiner expressway On Thursday, beginning at 11:59 p.m. until Friday 5 a.m., two left lanes on Lake Shore Boulevard West will be closed between Bay and York Streets. Also, two right lanes on Lake Shore Boulevard West between Bremner Boulevard and Bay Street will be closed from 11:59 p.m. Sunday, to Monday, 5 a.m. Canadian National Exhibition The Canadian National Exhibition will be coming back to Toronto this weekend and will run until September 7. As a result, numerous roads in the area will be closed. On all Saturdays and Sundays during the CNE, from 5 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., Dufferin Street will be closed south of the Dufferin Street Bridge. Yorkville Murals Street Festival The Yorkville Murals street festival will be returning to Toronto streets this weekend, as a result Yorkville Avenue will be closed to all vehicle traffic between Hazelton Avenue and Bellair Street. Closures begin on Friday, Aug. 21, from 7 a.m. and will last until Sunday, Aug. 23 at 9 p.m. The Westway The westway will be closed on Friday, August 21 at 9 p.m. until Saturday, Aug. 22 at 9 a.m. for the “safe operation of a crane hoist between Islington Avenue and Hartsdale Drive. City officials say that one westbound curb lane will remain open. Eastern Adelaide Bridges As part of ongoing rehabilitation work on the Eastern and Adelaide bridges, nightly road restrictions will take place. Nightly 10:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. on Friday, August 21 and Tuesday, August 25 to Thursday, August 27: Southbound DVP off-ramp to Richmond Street closed The TTC also released a statement for how it plans to handle the busy weekend in the city including plans to close parts of Line 2.
