It’s the final weekend of summer in Toronto and the forecast is calling for a gradual shift into fall with temperatures in and around the 20 C mark. “The last weekend of summer is upon us. And the weather is looking much better for festival goers and weekend warriors,” CP24 Meteorologist Bill Coulter said Friday. The high today will reach a seasonably mild 22 C, amid bright skies and a light breeze. Previous forecasts had called for a rain on Saturday and Sunday, but as Coulter explained, that’s no longer the case. “The weekend is now looking much less unsettled than previous models had projected. High pressure over the central Great Lakes will force much of the precipitation to the south,” he said. Saturday will be partly cloudy with a gusty breeze and a high of 19 C. Sunday will be mostly cloudy, with the slight risk of an isolated morning shower and a high of 20 C. “But any threat of precipitation will be early morning. And any shower activity should be isolated,” Coulter added. “Both weekend days are still expected to be seasonable and breezy so a light extra layer may be required for activities in the early and late hours of the day.” Temperatures are expected to drop slightly into the work week, with showers in the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday. The first day of autumn is Sept. 23.
