Toronto police officer suffers suspected hypothermia after water rescue in Lake Ontario

A Toronto police officer was taken to hospital after jumping into Lake Ontario to rescue a male who had reportedly fallen into the water on Monday night.

The incident happened near Stadium Road an Queens Quay at around 8 p.m.

Police said officers were called to the area for reports that someone had fallen into the lake.

Paramedics transported one male to hospital along with an officer who suffered suspected hypothermia after jumping into the water.

Police are urging people to exercise caution around docks, piers, and seawalls.
