Road and transit closures in effect this weekend

Road closures in effect this weekend There are a few major road closures and transit disruptions to watch out for this weekend. Janice Golding reports.

There will be a number of major road and transit closures to watch out for if you are travelling around the city this weekend.

Road closures throughout the city

Bay and Wellington

The intersection of Wellington and Bay streets will be partially closed over the weekend, reopening on Monday at 5 a.m. The closure is in place for TTC track replacement and road work in the area.

Northbound and southbound traffic on Bay Street will not be able to travel through the intersection. One lane of traffic on Wellington Street will remain open but no turns will be permitted from Wellington Street to Bay and York streets.

Dundas Street West

Dundas West Fest will close Dundas Street West in both directions between Lansdowne and Ossington avenues on Saturday from 8 a.m. to Sunday at 2 a.m.

Pape Avenue

Pape Avenue will be closed in both directions between Mortimer and Gamble avenues on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the Pape Village Summerfest.

Broadview Avenue

Riverside Eats & Beasts Streetfest will close Broadview Avenue in both directions from south of Queen Street East to the north side of the public lane on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Don Valley Parkway and Gardiner Expressway

The Don Valley Parkway and Gardiner Expressway will be shut down to accommodate the Becel Heart & Stroke Ride for Heart on Sunday.

Beginning at 2 a.m. on Sunday, the Don Valley Parkway will be closed from the Gardiner Expressway to York Mills Road. As well, the Gardiner Expressway will be closed from South Kingsway to the Don Valley Parkway.

There will also be road closures in the area surrounding Exhibition Place.

Weekend closure on Line 1

Line 1 will be closed between Sheppard West (formerly Downsview) and St. George stations in both directions for crews to complete signal upgrades. During the closure, shuttle buses will be operating between Sheppard West and Lawrence West stations.
