Inside Terminal 3: Take a glimpse at Pearson's redesigned space

From new dining and shopping options to Canadian-inspired art that dots the walls, the revamped Terminal 3 at Toronto's Pearson International Airport was officially unveiled on Thursday.

The 7,432-square-metre space is part of the $140-million Terminal 3 Enhancement Project, which is expected to be completed in 2017.

"The newly re-opened pier was designed with the passenger experience front and centre," said Scott Collier, vice-president of customer and terminal services at the Greater Toronto Airports Authority.

The new gate will be able to handle approximately 2.9 million WestJet passengers a year. It was built in response to the anticipated passenger growth in the coming years.

According to Pearson, nearly 39 million travellers passed through the airport in 2014. That number is expected to jump to 60 million by 2030.

Some of the highlights of the redeveloped Terminal 3 include an architectural representation of Niagara Falls, a Drake General Store that is expected to open later this month and a spa and message area.
