Cannabis vape recalled due to incorrect THC labelling

The recall was triggered following a complaint regarding incorrect THC labels.

A cannabis vape sold in Ontario has been recalled due to incorrect THC labelling that shows lower THC content than what is in the product.

On Wednesday, CannaPiece Corp. issued a recall notice for its Jays Pin Pennifer 0.4 g all-in-one vape after the company received a complaint.

Health Canada stated the product’s label underreports total THC, listing 350 mg/g instead of the correct 972 mg/g.

THC, short for Tetrahydrocannabinol, is a psychoactive cannabinoid found in most cannabis products.

A total of 2,040 recalled units with lot number 1006497 were sold between April 30 to May 16 at authorized Ontario Cannabis retailers.

“Without knowing the accurate THC level in the product, it could be difficult to make informed decisions regarding your cannabis use. This may lead to over-intoxication and temporary adverse health consequences associated with THC overdose,” Health Canada officials said in a statement.

“In remote cases, depending on the individual and the dose of THC consumed, THC overdose can also result in psychotic episodes characterized by paranoia, delusion or hallucinations. These effects could in some cases lead to an emergency department visit or hospitalization.”

CannaPiece Corp. nor Health Canada have received any adverse reaction reports about the recalled lot according to the notice.

Those who purchased the recalled product may contact the original retailer to arrange a return, if “you wish to return it”.
