New interactive map shows 200,000 galaxies, a slice of the known universe

Published:

This map shows a slice of our Universe, created from astronomical data taken night after night over a period of 15 years using a telescope in New Mexico, USA. The Milky Way is located at the bottom, while at the top is the actual edge of the observable Universe. In between, we see about 200,000 galaxies. (Visualization created at Johns Hopkins University)
