Three teens have been arrested and charged after a robbery involving weapons late last week in Saskatoon. Police responded to a robbery call at a business on the 2400 block of 22nd Street West around 5:15 p.m. on July 10. According to a news release, the robbery involved a gun, knife and bear spray. “Officers arrived on scene and were able to view video surveillance and learned multiple youths entered the store and grabbed multiple bottles of alcohol off the shelf before attempting to leave without paying,” police said in the update. Police say a woman confronted the group before one of the suspects brandished what looked like a gun while another pulled out a machete. Police say no injuries were reported. Just a short distance away, three suspects with matching descriptions were found and arrested. Police say the gun ended up being an imitation firearm. As a result, three boys, two 15-year-olds and a 13-year-old, have all been charged with robbery. One of the 15-year-olds was also charged with using an imitation firearm while committing a robbery, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence, assault with a weapon, pointing a firearm and disguise with intent. All three of the accused are scheduled to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on July 13. The youths cannot be identified under the protections of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
