A 53-year-old man is dead following an altercation on a First Nation near North Battleford early Friday morning. Saskatchewan RCMP says members from its Battlefords detachment were dispatched to a home on Saulteaux First Nation around 4 a.m. They arrived to find Leonard Mocassin, 53, gravely injured. He was declared dead by paramedics a short time later. Considering the death suspicious, officers arrested a man who was at the scene. That man, 30-year-old Bradley Redbear from Saulteaux First Nation, has since been charged with manslaughter. Redbear was expected to appear in court on Monday. Police say Moccasin’s family has been notified of the death and offered victim services. The RCMP says its Homicide Investigation Unit continues to search for evidence in the case, with support from the Battlefords and Prince Albert Serious Crime Unit and the Battlefords General Investigation section.
