Sirens down Angels in first lingerie football contest

Sixty per cent of the Lingerie Football League's players have quit over safety concerns.

Saturday night saw the first ever Lingerie Football League game played in Saskatoon.

The Saskatoon Sirens defeated the visiting B.C Angels 22-8 at the Credit Union Centre.  The lower bowl of the arena appeared to be about a quarter full.

There has been some controversy about the uniform, which consists of a bra, bikini bottom and shoulder pads.  But organizers say using sex to sell sport is nothing new.

"It has been used for many years well in advance of the LFL" says league chairman Mitchell Mortaza.  "It will continue to be that way on both genders.  It's not just for women but for men as well.  Women maybe have to use it a little more at this point because that's the culture we live in unfortunately.  Major women's sports have a tough time competing with major men's sports.  We all know that.  We are just adjusting to that climate"
