A man faces impaired driving-related charges after ending up in a slough early Friday morning. Emergency crews arrived to find a car in the water east on Highway 16, with the driver sitting in waist-deep water. In a post on social media, the Corman Park Police Service (CPPS) says the Saskatoon Police Service Air 1, CPPS officers and Saskatchewan RCMP located the vehicle and safely directed the driver to shore. Members of the Saskatoon Fire Department entered the water to confirm no other occupants were in the water or vehicle. CPPS says the driver displayed “obvious signs of impairment” and was arrested. He was charged with impaired operation and failure or refusal to comply with a demand. “This incident serves as another reminder of the dangers of impaired driving,” says CPPS. Saskatchewan RCMP are investigating the incident.
