The Regina Farmers Market is continuing a program aimed at addressing food insecurity for the less fortunate in the city. The ‘Nutrition Coupon’ program - a partnership between the Farmers’ Market and YWCA Regina, launched in 2025. The goal of the program is to provide local, healthy foods to low-income families and individuals in the Queen City. Coupon recipients can spend the vouchers like cash, purchasing fresh food and farm products from local vendors. It’s Saskatchewan’s first nutrition coupon program. “We took some inspiration from other provinces that run these similar types of programs,” explained Holly Laird, executive director of the Regina Farmers’ Market “We had a donation from Nutrien last year that helped us kick off, and we’re so grateful they’ve decided to continue supporting the program.” for 2026 and 2027. Nutrien donated $10,000 to the program, supporting it through 2027. This year’s market, located at Pat Fiacco Plaza, featured 52 different vendors on opening day in May.
