Fire crews were called to a Pleasant Hill apartment early Tuesday morning after a blaze ignited inside a third-floor suite. The Saskatoon Fire Department says crews were dispatched just after 3 a.m. on July 7. When they arrived at the apartment on the 100 block of Avenue O South, smoke and flames were visible from a third-storey window. Firefighters hoisted a hose line up to attack the blaze through the window of the suite, the fire department said in a news release. During their attack, another group entered the apartment and ran a hose line upstairs. The fire department says there was no occupant in the apartment by this time. Once the fire was out, crews set up large fans to remove any lingering smoke and toxic fumes from the building. No one was injured in the fire, and a fire department investigator is currently working to determine the cause and estimate of the cost of damages.
