The Saskatoon Fire Department (SFD) was kept busy as the weekend wrapped up, with fires at two separate homes. SFD was called to the 300 block of Avenue Q South just before 8 p.m. Sunday. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the home. They found three dogs inside and safely removed them. There were no injuries to report. Firefighters were then called to the 300 block of Pendygrasse Road just before 1 a.m. They arrived to find smoke and flames coming from a second-floor balcony. Firefighters used hoses to extinguish the flames and prevent them from spreading to adjacent suites in the building. There were no injuries to report in the second fire. A fire investigator is working to determine the cause and damage estimates for both fires.
