Fireworks cause confusion on Highway 16 near The Battlefords

Battlefords RCMP are investigating after a vehicle was unexpectedly blasted with fireworks while travelling on a major highway.

The incident occurred on March 28, at around 11:35 p.m., when officers learned fireworks were being discharged from a vehicle on Highway 16 towards another vehicle.

Police found and spoke with the group involved. No injuries were reported, and initial reports of gunfire in the area were later determined to be fireworks.

RCMP reminded the public to use fireworks safely and check local bylaws regarding their use.
